Exploring Practice and Poetry – CI Workshop – Leuven
May 18 @ 13 h 30 min - May 19 @ 17 h 30 min
EXPLORING PRACTICE AND POETRY – Contact Improvisation Workshop by Ksenia Isaeva (Russia) and Flor Campise (Argentina/Belgium)
At this workshop we invite you to dive in the CI practice and techniques. We will move from the clear anatomy of the body to the poetics of the dance. We will work on techniques that allow us to increase our potential ways of moving, multiplying our possibilities of movement. Moving and being moved by the environment and by stimuli, by the other and with the others, in solo, in duo and in the whole group, by and within the space.
We will be exploring: – contact with breathing – spine and body structure – contact of the center and periphery of the body, wholeness of movement – spiral movement and spiral trajectories of the body – dance with a sense of flowing weight and gravity. The ability to move with a partner, leaning, listening to where the total weight flows. – attention to the body in space, to composition, form, distance.
Mix level workshop! (some experience in contact improvisation is required)

Ksenia Isaeva (Moscow)
9 years ago I’ve met CI and step by step it pulled me in completely.
Now I live in Moscow and travel a lot. Mostly following the dance and particular dance spirit – Angelica Doniy, assisting and dancing together. I taught CI in Russia, Europ, Goa, Argentina, Brazil.
I love dancing CI, to learn continiously from different teachers from all over the world, to teach and organize CI events.
I am very inspired by such practices as Authentic movement, bodywork, somatiques, dance in the nature. With all this I nourish my dance and integrate it in my contact improvisation. I’ve graduated in the Institute for Holistic Dance and Movement pedagogy of Sabine Parzer.
Flor Campise (AR/BE)
I am a Dr. in Physics and dancer/performer. I’ve been practicing contact improvisation since 2014, and have undertaken CI as a research platform to think-experience-question the paradigms over which I have conceived knowledge construction, and those around perception, body and experience. Since I settled in Brussels, I am part of group of practitioners in Brussels who intend to think around CI, organize labs, classes and jams weekly. Also, I have been facilitating classes and explorations on Improvisation in Contact/ Contact Improvisation.
My current interests around the practice of Contact involve ways of exploring moving and being moved that would open for multiplicity to emerge, intending to work against our own patterns.
