Kinesphere and Spirals
In this workshop we’ll be exploring the flux of our dance using tools related to our kinesphere, it’s volume, lines, and dynamic. We’ll discover how by making the volume of our kinesphere denser or more porous it can simplify our link to the movement and infinitely feed our dance. We’ll also investigate the spiral as an organizational source, whether of the inner movement of our body, or that of our dance when traveling in space in duos, trios.. Letting the body and movement flow through each other, and giving us more fluidity.
When watching contact improvisation, we easily see that the ‘point of contact’ is one of the keystones in what’s a living, moving, dancing structure made by the dancers. But this travelling point of contact can only be right, rich, and pleasant if the basis is fully awake. So what is this basis? By opening our senses, and allowing ourselves to receive and give, we create a relationship that’s based on confidence and trust. And using our bodies like an arch, with our center, legs, and feet as columns, and this point of contact as a keystone, we can raise the structure of our dance from this awakened basis. And so from head to toe, from earth to sky, and with all of our senses, we establish a meaningfull relationship with ourselves and our partners, thus opening the way for a fuller experience. So let’s open our senses with ease in order to receive and give, and create a relationship of trust and fun with each other!
